Remembering My Aunt, Audrey Field

My aunt, Audrey Field was a nurse her whole life and dedicated her entire career to midwifery and maternity. If you’ve ever watched the TV show on PBS called “Call the Midwife” this was what she did during the same time period, the show is set in. So, in the late 50’s and early 60’s, she’d cycle round some pretty dodgy parts of south London and help deliver babies primarily in subsidized housing complexes. She eventually become the Matron of the maternity hospital in Canterbury, Kent. All in all, a good life lead.
I honored her memory with a donation that sponsored 100 pieces of the fused glass bark in Seasons of Life. My aunt made an indelible mark on my life and the lives of so many patients, and so this permanent dedication in Levine Cancer Institute is incredibly fitting.
